the sin IIby *devllaaThere is so much to say about this work. Technically this photograph is amazing in it's use of light, shadow, and texture. The color is somewhat muted except for the apple, which is just one of the ways the eye is drawn toward the apple. What I think is particularly exceptional is the way the composition works to provide guidance for the eye but also to create a bit of tension. The hands in the lower right appear to be in action - but whether they are tossing or catching is not clear. Counterbalance this with the angles and darker tones on the hands and arms of the figure. The way the nudity is portrayed projects both a sense of vulnerability and strength. Combined with the title, it visually represents the dilemma of the dichotomy of the female body - capable of beauty and producing life but also treated as an object of "sin." I think this piece is amazing in it's use of symbolism and technical execution.
